Background and Career
Thembi Seete started her career as a singer. She is a former band member of the Kwaito Supergroup BoomShaka. She joined the group in 1994 and the group disbanded in the year 2000. After the group split Thembi started a solo career in music and acting.
Her acting career succeeded more than her singing career
- In the year 2000, she landed a minor acting role in the film Hijack Stories but she became Mzansi’s favorite after she landed a role in Yizo Yizo. Thembi is the voice behind Yizo Yizo 2’s soundtrack Sure Ntombazana. The track helped her launch her Solo music career.
- From 2002-2004, Thembi portrayed the role of Lerato in Season 1 and Season 2 of Gaz’lam.
- In 2005 she made a guest appearance in Ghosts of the past which was aired on 18 February 2005. That same year Thembi played the role Pumla in the South African movie Crossing the line.
- The following year Thembi played the leading role of Nina Moloi for four seasons in the soccer drama series Zone 14. That same year, she played the guest-starring role of Lily in the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.
- On 30 July 2015 Thembi joined Rhythm City as Bongi- a drug-addicted former superstar who has hit rock bottom and lost everything.
